Recipe for Classic Mulled Cider
Ingredients you'll need:
- 1 quart (32 oz.) apple cider
- 4 teaspoons of The Leaf and Cup brand mulling spices
- 1 orange, sliced into rounds
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, combine the apple cider and The Leaf and Cup brand mulling spices.
- Add orange slices, and brown sugar if desired.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it steep for 10-15 minutes.
- Strain the Leaf and Cup brand mulling spices and serve warm. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange if you're feeling fancy.
Traditional Mulled Wine
- 1 bottle (750 ml.) red wine (Merlot or Cabernet work well)
- 8 ounces of water
- 4 teaspoons of The Lea and Cup brand mulling spices
- 1/4 cup honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 orange sliced into rounds
- 2-3 whole cloves (optional)
- 1 cinnamon stick
Instructions:
- In a pot combine water, The Leaf and Cu brand mulling spices, orange slices, and cloves (optional) and a cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a gentle simmer and steep for 15 minutes.
- Lower the heat and add the red wine and honey/sugar. Do not boil - just heat until warm.
- Strain and serve in mugs or heatproof glasses.
