Recipe for Classic Mulled Cider

Ingredients you'll  need:

  • 1 quart (32 oz.) apple cider
  • 4 teaspoons of The Leaf and Cup brand mulling spices
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the apple cider and The Leaf and Cup brand mulling spices.
  2. Add orange slices, and brown sugar if desired.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it steep for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Strain the Leaf and Cup brand mulling spices and serve warm. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange if you're feeling fancy.

Traditional Mulled Wine

  • 1 bottle (750 ml.) red wine (Merlot or Cabernet work well)
  • 8 ounces of water
  • 4 teaspoons of The Lea and Cup brand mulling spices
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 orange sliced into rounds
  • 2-3 whole cloves (optional)
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions:

  1.  In a pot combine water, The Leaf and Cu brand mulling spices, orange slices, and cloves (optional) and a cinnamon stick.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer and steep for 15 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat and add the red wine and honey/sugar. Do not boil - just heat until warm.
  4. Strain and serve in mugs or heatproof glasses.
