THE LEAF AND CUP — WHAT & WHY?
Smoked Coffee | Bold Coffee with a Smooth, Smoky Finish
Shop small-batch smoked coffee crafted with real wood smoke for a bold, smooth, and distinctive flavor. The Leaf and Cup offers wood-smoked coffee in unique flavor profiles, including cherrywood and hickory-smoked blends, handcrafted and finished to order in Texas.
Real Smoke. Real Wood. Finished to Order.
Wood smoke has long been used to create deeper layers of aroma and flavor in foods and beverages. Instead of relying on artificial smoky flavoring, we take a hands-on approach that brings real hardwood smoke into the finishing process.
Our goal is simple: create coffee with the familiar richness you expect from a great cup while adding a smooth, distinctive smoky character that complements the beans rather than overpowering them.
The Leaf and Cup Revives It
At The Leaf and Cup, we use a controlled finishing process designed to preserve the coffee's natural aroma and flavor. Rather than treating large industrial batches at once, the beans are handled in controlled 360° airflow chambers before receiving their distinctive smoked finish.
We then cold smoke the coffee over Texas hardwood for up to 12 hours, creating layers of natural smoke that complement the roasted coffee without relying on artificial liquid-smoke flavoring.
How?
We prepare and finish each order individually rather than relying on large industrial batch processing. This approach gives us greater control over the finished coffee and helps preserve the aroma, character, and smoky profile we're looking for in every order.
Different woods create different experiences in the cup. Cherrywood can bring a smoother, subtly sweet smoke character, while hickory delivers a deeper and more robust smoky profile.
Natural Wood-Smoke Infusion
We use cold-smoking techniques with natural Texas hardwood, charcoal, and cherry wood. No liquid-smoke flavorings are used. The result is a smooth, naturally smoked finish designed to add depth without masking the underlying character of the coffee.
